Roman Museum - Premià de Mar

The immersive visits and family workshops make this museum a great option for visiting with kids.

The Museu Romà de Premià de Mar centers around the remains of a Roman villa, known as Can Ferrerons, dating back to the 1st century AD. Its distinctive octagonal structure makes it a rare find.

The regular visit is an immersive experience, starting at specific times, with sessions happening around five times a day and lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes.

The tour combines a walk through the ruins with an audio guide (available in Catalan, Spanish, English, and French), as well as videos and projections that bring the villa’s ancient inhabitants to life.

Visiting with kids

The immersive nature of the visit makes it especially engaging for children. Plus, since the museum covers a small area, there’s very little walking involved, making it suitable for kids as young as three years old.

Family workshops are hosted once a month, allowing children to explore different aspects of Roman culture (such as writing and mosaic creation) and archaeology.

Best time to go

This museum is a great choice year-round, particularly in winter, when you won’t feel like you're missing out on time outdoors in a sunny coastal city.

A special highlight is the annual Roman festival, held every March!
