Centre Enoturístic i Arqueològic de Vallmora - Teià
A relaxed and entertaining visit to discover the area's wine-making heritage
This small but surprising archaeological site in Teià offers a unique glimpse into the region’s 2,000-year-old winemaking tradition.
In the open-air section of Centre Vallmora, you can explore the remains of a Roman winery that once produced vast quantities of wine for the empire. Besides, impressive reconstructions of two wine presses help bring to life the ancient Roman method of crushing grapes.
Indoors, an exhibition and a film (available in five different languages) provide further insight into the region’s Roman history and influence.
Visiting with kids
Centre Vallmora hosts a variety of activities—most of which cater to adults—but families can also enjoy the theatrical guided tours that typically take place once a month and last 90 minutes (in Catalan). During these tours, you'll meet Epictet, a Greek slave who once worked in the Roman wine cellar, as he shares his story alongside archaeologist Narcís Vallformosa i Rocamora.
As a bonus for adults, there's a tasting of DO Alella wine at the end of the visit. For kids, be sure to bring water and snacks, as no refreshments are available on site.
Keep an eye out for special activities, such as kids’ workshops (e.g., a Roman mosaic workshop) combined with a guided tour for adults—these occasional events are a great way to combine everyone’s interests.
Best time to go
The centre is open year-round. If possible, avoid rainy days since much of the site is outdoors, and remember to bring sun protection on very hot, sunny days.
Also, consider making a stop at Parc de Vallmora, which is in El Masnou, just a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk away—it’s a perfect spot for the whole family to relax and play.
Whether you're nurturing budding archaeologists or inspiring curious little explorers, Centre Vallmora offers a great way of discovering the past and connecting it with the present!
